Top 5 Navigation and Maps Apps in Australia Q1 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, the top 5 navigation and maps applications in Australia exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads and active users. This analysis, powered by Sensor Tower data, provides insights into the performance of these apps on a unified platform, covering both iOS and Android.

Google Maps Go experienced notable weekly downloads, peaking at around 34K in mid-January. Despite fluctuations, downloads remained above 23K throughout the quarter. Active users hovered around a consistent 2.5M, with slight variations between 2.5M and 2.56M.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a significant drop in weekly downloads from 57.8K at the start of the year to just under 19.3K by the end of March. Active users also displayed a downward trend, starting at 520K and ending near 487K.

Google Earth maintained a steady download range, with a notable increase to 18.2K in the last week of March. Active users showed a growth trajectory, rising from 51.3K at the beginning of the quarter to about 59.2K by the end.
